I fondly remember warm afternoons spent in my garden eating sweet and delicious Clafoutis with cherries freshly picked from the orchard. Clafoutis, or Flaugnarde for the purists as this one doesn't contain cherries, is quick and easy to make which makes it the perfect candidate to experiment and create versions for every season. How can you think about autumn without thinking about one of my favourite combinations: pears and chocolate. Try it; you will be convinced.
Preheat the oven at 190°C or 170°C Fan.
Combine eggs, sugar and melted butter.
Add and combine the flour, cocoa and the optional baking powder.
Add the milk and mix well.
Place the sliced pears in a well-buttered dish.
Pour the batter and sprinkle the chocolate chunks on top.
Bake for 40min or until firm.
